Nadeen

I am so proud of my beautiful sister Nadeen :) #JustLittleThings

Nadeen works at The National Center for Diabetes Endocrinology and Genetics in Amman. She helps patients with their appointments and paperwork. Most of the cases the center handles are for people looking to learn about their genetic disease history, genetic mutations, and checking to see if their future babies could possibly carry any of these.

Amidst all the confusion, unclarity, and fear that people face when they deal with those kinds of diseases and mutations, a big part of Nadeen's job is to give them hope.

Yesterday, Nadeen sent me a screenshot of a message she received from a complete stranger. A lady she barely knows or remembers, telling her: "I know you may not remember me. I came to the center early last year and I was quite hopeless and depressed after I was told I can never have a healthy baby because of a possible genetic mutation. I was very sad and unsure of anything. You calmed me down, reassured me that things will be ok, and recommended an experienced doctor to explain my case to. I visited the doctor you recommended, I got pregnant and did all the required tests. I am sending you today to tell you that God has blessed me with a beautiful healthy baby girl! I named her (Nadeen) after you. I am forever indebted and thankful for what you did for me and for my family" -- end of message.

The amount of hope that we can give people everyday - at work, in meetings, in random encounters, in life - is way beyond our thinking and imagination. Baby "Nadeen" is a living example of what small kind gestures do, for decades to come. Life is so beautiful because of people like you, Nadeen! I am so happy and thankful for what you did :)
